O curso de graduação em Filosofia atua nas linhas de pesquisa apresentadas a seguir:
1. História da Filosofia
Esta linha de pesquisa abrange o desenvolvimento de investigações sobre temas, conceitos e problemas filosóficos circunscritos ao pensamento ou sistemas propostos por autores(as) nos quatro tradicionais períodos da história da filosofia: Antiga, Medieval, Moderna e Contemporânea. A abordagem é historicamente orientada, a partir de análise de texto visando a reconstrução histórico-argumentativa de articulações conceituais que constituem eixos dos sistemas filosóficos e/ou orientam discussões filosóficas ao longo de um determinado período. Desse modo, as pesquisas podem ser desenvolvidas no sentido de reconstruir internamente eixos do sistema ou do pensamento de um(a) autor(a) ou ainda desenvolver um estudo comparativo entre sistemas ou pensamentos filosóficos articulando conceitos e discussões dentro de um mesmo período ou entre períodos distintos.
History of Philosophy
This line of research encompasses the development of investigations on philosophical themes, concepts and problems circumscribed to the thought or systems proposed by authors in the four traditional periods of the history of philosophy: Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary. The approach is historically oriented, from text analysis aiming at the historical-argumentative reconstruction of conceptual articulations that constitute the axes of philosophical systems and/or guide philosophical discussions over a given period. Thus, research can be developed in order to internally reconstruct axes of an author's system or thought, or even develop a comparative study between systems or philosophical thoughts articulating concepts and discussions within the same period or between different periods.
2. Estética e Filosofia da Arte
A linha de pesquisa em Estética e Filosofia da Arte engloba as pesquisas e orientações anteriormente divididas nas linhas de Teoria e História da Estética, Arte e Filosofia e Interfaces da Estética. A subdivisão anterior acompanhava o modo como os estudos em Estética e a filosofia da arte eram desenvolvidos, tradicionalmente, em duas frentes de pesquisa, uma sistemática, outra histórico-filosófica, a primeira tratando dos problemas fundamentais da estética e da filosofia das artes, compreendendo também a relação das estéticas filosóficas com a literatura, as artes plásticas, a arquitetura, o teatro e a música, outra abordando o desenvolvimento das próprias ideias estéticas ao longo da história da filosofia, desde a estética clássica até as abordagens contemporâneas da estética filosófica.
Porém, de fato, as duas perspectivas se articulam na medida em que o método histórico-crítico é peculiar ao tratamento dos problemas filosóficos em geral. Finalmente, soma-se a essas duas frentes fundamentais a necessidade de abordar ainda as interfases da Estética, compreendendo a exploração das fronteiras e mediações entre a estética e outros campos tradicionais do pensamento filosófico, como a ética, a metafísica, a epistemologia, a educação, a psicanálise, bem como suas relações, mais recentemente, com o pensamento minoritário e decolonial.
Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art
The line of research in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art encompasses the research and guidelines previously divided into the lines of Theory and History of Aesthetics, Art and Philosophy and Interfaces of Aesthetics. The previous subdivision followed the way in which studies in Aesthetics and the philosophy of art were traditionally developed in two research fronts, one systematic, the other historical-philosophical, the first dealing with the fundamental problems of aesthetics and philosophy of the arts, comprising also the relationship of philosophical aesthetics with literature, the plastic arts, architecture, theater and music, another addressing the development of aesthetic ideas themselves throughout the history of philosophy, from classical aesthetics to contemporary approaches to philosophical aesthetics.
However, in fact, the two perspectives are articulated insofar as the historical-critical method is peculiar to the treatment of philosophical problems in general. Finally, adding to these two fundamental fronts is the need to address the interphases of Aesthetics, including the exploration of boundaries and mediations between aesthetics and other traditional fields of philosophical thought, such as ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, education , psychoanalysis, as well as its relations, more recently, with minority and decolonial thought.
3. Ética e Filosofia Política
As duas subáreas da Filosofia são abordadas tanto na perspectiva histórica quanto temática. Na abordagem histórica, nosso currículo está composto por disciplinas que abrangem as subáreas a partir da Filosofia Grega até a Filosofia Contemporânea. O corpo docente leciona e orienta pesquisas em todas os períodos históricos. Na abordagem por temas, há disciplinas de livre escolha dos alunos (eletivas) que os enfocam. Os diversos temas também constituem objetos de pesquisas. Os tópicos especiais na subárea Ética incluem temas em Ética Normativa, Metaética e Bioética, tais como o Bem, Mal, Valor, Justo, Virtude, Felicidade, Livre Arbítrio, Ética e Arte, Ética e Educação, Eticidade e Reconhecimento, Ética do Cuidado, Sentimentos Morais e Ética Contratualista, dentre outros. Os tópicos especiais de Filosofia Política procedem de matrizes filosóficas diversas tais como Teoria Crítica, Teorias da Democracia, Contratualismo, Teorias da Justiça, Políticas de Reconhecimento, Marxismo Clássico, Feminismo, Socialismo no Século XXI, Multiculturalismo, Comunitarismo, Liberalismo, Igualitarismo, Libertarismo, Perspectivismo e Anticolonialismo. Temas centrais da Filosofia Política também compõem as disciplinas e pesquisas da linha. Alguns exemplos são Poder, Liberdade, Igualdade, Estado, Governo, Democracia, Equidade, Autonomia, Identidade, Alteridade, Justiça, Razão Pública, Política e Valores, Política e Cultura, Política e Arte, Política e Religião, dentre outros.
Ethics and Political Philosophy
Both subareas of Philosophy are approached from a historical or a thematic perspective. In a historical approach, our curriculum includes subjects from Greek Philosophy to Contemporary Philosophy. The faculty members teach and mentor research in all historical periods. In a thematic approach, there are subjects freely chosen by students that focus on various topics which are also object of research. In Ethics they comprise themes in Normative Ethics, Metaethics and Bioethics, such as Value, Good, Evil, Virtue, Happiness, Free Will, The Just, Ethics and Art, Ethics and Education, Ethics and Recognition, Moral Feelings, Ethics of Care and Contractarian Ethics, among others. The special topics of Political Philosophy come from diverse philosophical branches such as Critical Theory, Theories of Democracy, Contractarianism, Theories of Justice, Politics of Recognition, Marxism, Feminism, Socialism, Multiculturalism, Communitarianism, Liberalism, Egalitarianism, Libertarianism, Perspectivism and Anticolonialism. Main themes in Political Philosophy also make up the subjects and the line of research. Some examples are Power, Freedom, Equality, State, Government, Democracy, Equity, Autonomy, Identity, Alterity, Justice, Public Reason, Politics and Values, Politics and Art, Politics and Culture, Politics and Religion and Education and Politics.
4. Metafísica, Filosofia da Religião e Epistemologia
Os Temas de pesquisa em Metafísica são os conceitos de livre arbítrio, determinismo e necessidade, e a visão de mundo naturalista, além das obras de autores clássicos( Platão, Aristóteles, Plotino, Agostinho e Tómas de Aquino entre outros) e contemporâneos(Plantinga, Van Inwagen e Heidegger entre outros). Os temas investigados em Filosofia da Religião são a existência de Deus e racionalidade da crença teísta, o problema do mal e a relação entre a ciencia e a religião, além da obra de autores clássicos(Agostinho e Tómas de Aquino entre outros) e contemporâneos(Plantinga, Swinburne e Vattino entre outros).
Metaphysics, Philosophy of Religion and Epistemology
Research topics in Metaphysics are the concepts of free will, determinism and necessity, and the naturalistic worldview, in addition to the works of classical authors (Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Augustine and Thomas Aquinas among others) and contemporaries (Plantinga, Van Inwagen and Heidegger among others). The themes investigated in Philosophy of Religion are the existence of God and the rationality of theistic belief, the problem of evil and the relationship between science and religion, in addition to the work of classical authors (Augustine and Thomas Aquinas among others) and contemporaries (Plantinga, Swinburne and Vattino among others).
